Sophie Piedallu has been working on professional short films, feature films, music videos, documentaries, corporate, live event coverages and TV shows since 2009 in the camera and lighting department.

She is qualified in film production technology with a BSc from Staffordshire University and a french degree in cinematography. She is experienced with 16mm, digital and 3D filmmaking.

Two of the feature films Sophie worked on were aired on France’s main TV Channels: France 3 and Arte. She has camera operated for BBC ONE and two major Indian TV Channels: Colors and Zee TV. Her fashion experience started with work at Burberry.

Award winning station

Sophie is a video producer at Deutsche Bank. She produces high end corporate interviews, panels discussions, highlight videos and animations. She coordinates on average 20 projects at one time.

Sophie was Producer / Director for Sky Channel 198, turning over on average 1 programme a week. She managed a team of editors, camera operators and production assistants.

In 2012, she created an award winning TV channel, Staffs TV, that was rated 7th best broadcaster in the UK after only 8 months of existence. Staffs TV won the Tim Marshall Award for Special recognition. For creating this, and having made it so successful in less than a year she received the Greatest Contribution to the Community award at her graduation ceremony.

Staffs TV also received 2nd place for best live, with it’s flagship show What’sNext (22 live episodes) at the National Student Television Awards, beating 40 other stations. This live weekly TV show, was produced and directed by Sophie Piedallu.

Sophie trained most of Staffs TV’s 50 crew members from scratch, teaching them all the roles in the studio.She was in charge of planning the live TV shows, including creating: schedules, running orders, shot lists, storyboards and handbooks. Sophie was involved with each project from pre production to post production.

Overall, Sophie was responsible for over 50 programmes, including NaSTAvision, a 3 hour national live music TV show that included live links to other TV stations. NaSTAvision had a crew of over 30 members split between the main Studio and an OB location. Sophie was the director on this show and had to rearrange the running order live depending on what was happening.

Sophie received her first awards,The People’s Choice Award and The Grand Prize of The Jury, at the festival ‘illumines’ in 2009 for a 3D short.

She has a wide range of experience with cameras, including: Blackmagic, RED, Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic and 16mm cameras. Sophie worked in a camera rental house, Le Fresnoy, enabling her to become very familiar with a wide range of equipment.

In 2013, The Hub, a short film also shot in 3D, was awarded 2nd place by industry professionals at Staffordshire University’s GradEx. The film was shot using a custom beam-splitter rig designed and built by Sophie. The short was selected to appear at a Francisco 3D conference.
